The Botanic Gardens in Cambridge was a favourite location for Sunday
walks at all times of the year. In the days when I lived nearby,
you had to apply to have key for entry on Sundays, for a fee of
around £1 per year I seem to recall. This meant that often you had
the place completely to yourself, with only the plants and birds
for company.
