Surfaces is
about the essential two-dimensionality of photographs and how that can
be explored and exploited. Closing one eye, to remove all depth perception,
has long been a useful technique for assessing how a composition appears
in two dimensions. I had walked past this fence on numerous occasions,
each time thinking that I must photograph it before it was repaired.
It transcends the flat print surface by representing so many dimensions
- even the curve of space-time may be there somewhere.
It was actually left
like this for a long, long time, finally being removed completely.
